Pain,
The simplest feeling to attain.

Slain,
Dost my heart lay,
Torn membrane,
Stepped on and forgotten; simply left to decay.

Used as frivolous prey,
Scars and bruises are abundant across its core,
They simply convey its message of dismay,
The pain it has endured as horrid as it seems if not more.

The story of its past is forgotten lore,
So many tales of disappointment right after another,
Chances of happiness gone right out the door,
Leaving nothing but boundless heart sore.

It strives to heal,
Seeks others’ appeal,
The feeling it so loves so difficult to clutch,
It’s lucky if it can even spare a touch.
